Proprioceptors in AK: Physiology and (Mis-)Conceptions

Interpretations and misconceptions in the utilization and explanation of effects of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures concerning proprioceptors in applied kinesiology: autogenic facilitation, spindle cell technique, myofascial lesions, origin insertion technique and Golgi tendon organ stimulation, deep tendon reflex procedure are common AK tools. Some of them may work despite the erroneous models to explain them. Others may work for some, yet can only be explained through projection on behalf of the author of the technique, as they contradict neurophysiology. For the sake of acceptance of applied kinesiology it is suitable to eliminate irrational concepts and update the body of AK knowledge.

Practical issues will be discussed in order to make therapeutic work simpler and more coherent.
